St Andrews BigGER Brother ?

Postby Marco Biagi on Mon Mar 14, 2005 9:42 pm

Some of you probably remember St Andrews Big Brother, which was held last year over a day in Venue 2 and streamed onto a big screen in Venue 1 during the Refreshers' Fayre - if only because a fair battalion of Sinners were involved.

Right now though I'm trying to gauge interest in a slightly larger-scale Big Brother, to raise money for charity, run over a weekend probably shortly before exams (yes, I know this seems quite late to start). All the proceedings would be streamed online (and maybe on screens in the union - that one would be subject to Bonnie/Ents/Bruce) and there would be some kind of an event at the end with a 'Best Bits' and live announcement of the winner, who would then be brought in and interviewed in true Davina McCall style by, um, someone.

So what I want to know right now is whether anyone would be interested...??? Would you watch, would you audition perhaps...? Would you make a donation to either a) evict someone or b) set a task...? And yes, the participants would be being plied with alcohol. It's not iMovie, I know, but it maybe has an appeal from having slightly less class. Thoughts, people?

[hr]No more elections. No more restraint.
And hello Mum.

It would be hilarious - to me - if it was just Sinner types in there.

There are quite a few Sinners I could think of that would be good on it...

I would love to be involved. If I am plied with alcohol, things just seem to start happening.

Good point - can you just stick us in a real room Marco, instead of a virtual one?

things to consider:

1. The last one was done by the police, as you know because you were there, and they supplied a lot of the fun. So, where are you going to get the alcohol? If it's a charity event, you know who to see about arranging stuff etc.

2. The Union does have some lots of random things like giant games etc.

3. Venue2 bookings are getting quite tight! So, if you want to do it in Venue2, come in tomorrow and let's get a suitable date.

4. We'll need to talk with ents crew about mics, projections, feeds, etc, feasibilities.

5. The last one was for making a video for schoolchildren to see how stupid people get with alcohol, what will this one be for?

You've not been in the chatroom - we're too busy being hateful, sleazy, offensive and funny to correct spelling.

You know I'm interested, Marco. It will be cool, you know you want the 'fat facist' alcoholic in there.

I would definitely do it, every BB needs its criminal. Plus the oppurtunity for free drink should never ever ever be turned down. EVER

Bonnie, I was going to put a comment in at the end along the lines of "(oh, and Bonnie, don't reply with technical details, I'm well aware of them and only floating the idea at this stage to gauge interest)". I didn't.

So, Bonnie, I'm well aware of the technical details and only floating the idea at this stage to gauge interest (*cough* as you might have given me credit for *cough*). It's all obviously subject to physical circumstances, and since interest has been quite positive I'll now see about getting things rolling a bit.

In answer to 'what for', if I can the details from 'idea' to 'sketchy', I'll pitch it at the Charities Campaign, whose Events Co-ordinator I have already spoken to about it. That means it'll go for Charity. I could go into the business plan here, but I won't, especially since it's just begun the transition to 'sketchy'. Just believe me when I say it will be FABULOUS dahling!
