My all time favourtie is Cyrano de Bergerac with Gerard Depardieu. Can't get enough of tragic heros.
Apart from that, again in no order:

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Benny and Joon
The Empire Strikes Back
All of the Indiana Jones trilogy
Don Juan DeMarco
Thelma and Louise (I wanna be Thelma when I grow up)
The Princess Bride
Wayne's World
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
The Lord of the Rings. Not only a good film but with very, very pretty people in it. Mmm.

There are more but I have a crap memory.

God, hundreds of others, I'll probably come back and add some more.

I second both Cyrano de Bergerac and The Princess Bride, although I've seen that one way too many times. Here are some more:

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Robin Hood, Men in Tights
An Ideal Husband
The Matrix
LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring (probably TTT and ROTK too)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

can't think of any more right now

Clerks-- the original of the series is the best!
Life is Beautiful (it's the only movie that has ever made me cry)
Die Hard with a Vengeance
True Lies
Singing in the Rain
The movies my friends make.

AND KNOTTING HILL!
I can't believe I forgot that.
I know someone else who reads this board who will full heartedly agree with me.
From my list, don't think of me as a sappy movie watcher. I generally like action/ horror films the best, but they have to be smart films, too. Lately, it seems all the action or horror films have been dumb (e.g. Reign of Fire-- what a predictable plot).
And I like Guy Richie movies (what is the title of the one with Brad Pitt as a Gypsy?-- that one is funny!)

Oo oh, me too- am going to share my opinions like the rest of you- even though probably no one particularly cares what films I put down... but here goes...

Apocalypse Now
The Godfather
American Beauty
Philedelphia (but only for watching on my own)
Man on the Moon
Forrest Gump (used to be)
Full Metal Jacket (but only the first half)
Four Weddings and a Funeral.
I used to love Chasing Amy- but the more times you see it- the worse it gets.
Cruel Intentions- for the boy, the car and the soundtrack and no other reason
Leon
Pride and Predjudice (sp!!) - all eight hours of it
I'll second The Lion King- great film- though haven't seen it for years

Films I hate: Titanic (on the eighth time watching)
Rocky Horror Picture Show (Grossly overrated- but funny to watch odd people dance about and throw things)
The Horse Whisperer- it ruins a beautiful book

The obligatory comment which is so true- there are more but I can't think of them at this moment in time.
Phina

to the first anonymous up there--
hopefully you were joking when you said dancer, tx: pop. 54 instead of 81 and rear view mirror instead of rear window.

My turn now

Postby Scunthorpe on Mon Jan 01, 1990 12:00 pm

Once again, in no particular order:

Gone with the Wind
Goldfinger
The Empire Strikes Back
My Fair Lady
Casino Royale (with David Niven)
Pulp Fiction
From Dusk 'til Dawn
Caligula (hee!)
Carry On Up the Khyber
Starship Troopers
Topsy Turvey
Clerks
Pan Tadeuz
Akadmeika Pani Klex
The Brides of Fu Manchu
The Hound of the Baskervilles (yay Cushing)
The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and three hundred sixty-two admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision.

I get all nostalgic when I read this thread. "Oh I love that one too!" "That one sucks!!!" and "I forgot. That's my favorite too" (I've said that last one about five times now.-- how many favorites are you allowed to have?)
I also see so many that I've never seen. Now I have a good list of movies to look for the next time I rent one.

That last part almost sounded like an infomercial line.
