This summer...

Postby Rilla on Tue May 10, 2005 6:16 am

So who's actually going to be here all summer? I know most postgrads will be here (except those lucky enough to be off on field work somewhere nice...) but who else is going to be around?
I think this has the potential to be a great summer! (i)

I'm gonna be around. Heck, here's better than back home. Should be a laugh, I'm looking forward to it.

I did it last year - not this time, though. DRA won't let you sleep for 7 hours a day and watch TV when you should be working, this year.

Really? Bugger. I'm going to be in DRA from the 11th of July to the 28th of August. :(

I'm coming up here to graduate and then never coming back ever again.

I was up here last summer working for a department, it's great fun. Spent most of my money in Aikman's too!

Isn't it funny how the pubs take on different characters when most of the students aren't here? Aikman's in the summer is the most fun place to go, definitely. Yet I've been there afew times since Christmas, and it's been reasonably dead on Friday and Saturday nights. (At least in comparison to how it is in the summer.)

I'll be here, hopefully working at the open (even tho I'm not a golf fan). I'll be heading to aikmans occasionally, if that's where all the action is. we should meet up or play draughts there.

Ill be here too doing paid research stuff (i.e. pipetting all day or something) in the bio department. Could do with an evening job though - does anyone know anywhere looking for people? I did the DRA thing last year -they didnt let you sleep on the job too much but they didnt seem to mind drinking lol

The bird with the thorn in its breast, it follows an immutable law. It is driven by it knows not what to impale itself, and die singing. At the very instant that the thorn enters there is no awareness in it of the dying to come; it simply sings and sings until there is not the life left to sing another note. But we, when we put the thorns in our breasts, we know. We know and still we do it. Still we do it.
