Bizarre Dreams

Postby Waaaargh on Sat May 14, 2005 11:40 am

Hello, hello

After starting a course of Prozac about two months ago, I have been having absolutely WEIRD dreams. My life is completely better, but at night its starting to get really freaky.

I cant distinguish lifelike dreams from reality often (i have to think - did i dream that, or did that really happen?). Also I have been having real NIGHTMARES. Ive been chased by murderous priests, and last night my dream was full of corpses and zombies. Ive stumbled upon rotting open graves, I've lost my family, I've been naked and morbidly obese whilst doing speeches (hey, thats a nightmare!) and ive been hounded by vigilantes accusing me of being a sex offender (when really, im just a lovely innocent quiet girl!)

I mean, wtf!??! Has anyone else experienced this?? Its fecking crazy. Maybe they are subconscious fears, but in all honesty, they are not things i have worried or really thought about.

Mad.

Waaaaargh, that sounds pretty miserable! Maybe it will just take a while for your body to adjust to the medication and once it has settled down, they may stop. Invest in a dream dictionary- it often helps weed out something your subconcious is mulling over that you didn't even realise you were thinking about. I got horrendus nightmares when taking anti malaria medication so i totally sympathise, you can wake up feeling like you haven't slept a wink! Maybe even keep a dream diary, if anything be proud of your fantastic imagination!

My boyfriend had really bad, lifelike dreams when he was on Prozac, so if they're really bothering you you could speak to your doctor about getting your medication changed. Anti depressants aren't very precise - there are heaps of different ones can have some pretty nasty side effects and affect everyone differently.

Oh god, yeah, I get dreams like that without meds. Also, my dreams tend to reflect my real life. At the minute I am desperately avoiding certain people (mainly one, actually), so every night I am now being chased, sometimes by this particular person or just by random people I know. It's quite scary and it happens night after night after night. Well, I guess at least I know why... not that I would know how to end it...

I wish I had dreams like that. My favourite dream is flying.

You dont need prozac all you need is excercise and a healthy food. I was suffering from panic attacks and depression, it all changed when i started taking part in a healthy lifestyle and excersising more. Oh yes and playing the guitar. Get creative and stop relying on these tablets, you will never get off them, trust me. Doctors hand them out like sweets.

Some people do need prozac. If you're concerned about it though, ask the doctor if there are less drastic ways. I needed them to get in mental shape to even approach sorting out the stuff I needed to.

I thought I had a dream in which there was a mini tornado back in Lancashire and I told my friend about it. Turns out it was actually real and I didn't dream it, but I could've sworn I dremt it.... that was strange.

No, believe me, I needed Prozac. I was depressed about nothing for YEARS and now Im a whole load better, apart from these dreams.

They dont bother my everyday life, its just a relief when I wake up.

I just wondered if i was the only one!!!

This has got to be taking the piss. Surely? Nearly as bad as the 'I used to be gay, but a strict regimen of church-going and bodily mortification cured me of that!'

Seriously, exercise really does help.
Not sure about the guitar though, but horses for courses...

don't know about prozac but i had some really really strange dreams on codeine one time. and after a Jap E vaccine. but my theory is that dreams aren't so much about you as about your thoughts; that is, they don't reflect on you as person, just on what you've been mulling over/watching/talking about lately!
i did have one extremely scary series where a hairy monster was crouched by my head, whispering to me...

I find stress induces violence in my dreams. This morning I dreamed the Market Street preacher woke me up and I beat him to death for it. Last set of exams, I dreamed of a zombie apocalypse. I had to smash the zombies' heads to pieces using the kitchen knife shapening-pole thing!

Maybe I should see my doctor about upping the dosage....

'To dream of seeing heavy, misshapen jaws, denotes disagreements, adn ill feeling will be shown between friends. If your own jaws ache with pain, you will be exposed to climatic changes, and illness may cause you loss in health and finances' according to my dream dictionary :(

i was in some wierd gun chase scenario thing last night. i was being pursued by ppl with handguns and on the upside i had one of my own. a sweet piece of equiptment and a rifle with a briliant sight on it. meh i dont have a clue why.
then there was the one where i was trying to escape from a sunken ship full of zombie/ghost crew-but could breathe while in the ship. it made no sense.
hell my dreams rarely make sense. i love the ones that are very surreal tho. i wish i could remember them better upon wakeing.

so basically, another version of "it's all in your head?"

You know, some people have real problems and anti-depressants are a life line that allows them to function, to breathe, to live when otherwise something like depression would be completely crushing them.

Here Here.

Stevie Boy your post is totally irresponsible and ignores the needs of people with serious depression - myself included - who need Ant-D's to even face the day.
