Clarke's out of the leadership race again(hooray!), the battle now seemingly between Davis (62 votes) and Cameron (56 votes).

Who do you think would be best for the job?

Cameron. But it sucks that Clarke is out....

actually, if they elect Davis, I'll just laugh- they really know how to shoot themselves in the foot.

I'm pleased that Clarke is out, it was rather inevitable that the parliamentary party would oust him first anyway; would have been interesting to see how he would have fared among the whole party membership though.

For me it is David Cameron all the way, and it would'nt surprise me if he faces Liam Fox in the final race. I think that electing David Davis would be the final nail in the coffin for the party, as he has no charisma whatsoever.

So good luck to David Cameron, and that is where my vote will be going.

However he did say there will be ill feeling, so I'm worried who is going to be the receipient of this ill feeling. The Conservative MP's, Members or the whole of the UK.

I presume a lot of Clarke voters will switch to Cameron, in which case Liam Fox is probably next to go.

I was expecting Clarke to go out today, despite what I said at last night's leadership debate (where I lied through my teeth). I would not be at all surprised if the Davis campaign went into freefall, and Fox got through to the final two.

But naturally I am staying neutral.......but backing Cameron.

Cameron ftw! I campaigned for Davis, and lets put it politely, he's not exactly Mr Charisma, anyone with any doubt should look at his speech to party conference...

CAMERON!

Edit:
Actually, the main question is how on earth did Dr Liam Fox GP get 42 votes?

Such a shame. The MPs have manged to get rid of the better two candidates. If Davis is elected the party is in the wilderness even longer. But cameron is barley better. i will vote for him simply to stop Davis. If davis is elected i will leave the party. He is just not going to win anything. Clarke would have been the best choice

David Cameron certainly seems far better than Davis, though I was also impressed by Liam Fox's speech at the conference... a Cameron/Fox runoff would've been good, but never mind. It does seem though that just as people are getting sick of Blair, the Tories look set to elect a new Blair as their leader.

Exactly the sentiments uttered by George Galloway on "The Last Word" (More4) the other night. But true nonetheless

I think its' hardly fair to condemn the man as the "next Tony Blair" just because he happens to be handsome, charming and form a public school background. As many people has said, he has really still to set out his policies and agenda, lets' wait until then before we start tarring him with the "tory blair" brush. And anyway, since when was anything uttered from the cesspit of a mouth that is George Galloway anything but poisonous, spurious retoric.

I'd agree that it's a bit early to say he's a new Blair... so far, the best way he's defined himself is by his attitude toward his past - and flare is right, best not to listen to Galloway for anything other than the purposes of amusement.
