'twas shite, but then again, what do you expect when you have to trail through to the main bar, into a different genre of music, every time you want a drink. It really is about time the people organising the bop actual stopped, and thought.

... and please, before you reply, if you have a better idea please tell us. NO, it's your fucking job, you get paid to do it(@ sabs). One bar person from 10 till 2 would cost the union about £20. Not only did the change in music from one venue to the other totally destroy any atmosphere but it also took about 30 mins to get served at a packed bar. Seriously, isn't it about time you got a grip of reality?

I'd like to change the world but they won't give me the source code.

Sabs aren't paid to be competent, they're paid to uh... or rather because they won a popularity contest.

To be fair, you can't blame the sabbs because there were not enough barstaff on. Staffing is not really their responsibility. Blame the permanent staff. However, as people have been complaining about the inadequate numbers of bar staff ever since the main bar area was refurbished, it probably wouldn't do any good to complain to them either.

One thing munchingfoo said is very true, and that is that everytime someone complains about a problem at Our (Your) Union, the same tired answer is brought back out, which is always something along the lines of "Well, if you have a problem you should get involved and sort it out", or "Perhaps you should come discuss this with me in my office?".

Let's have some new excuses please.

I had a really good time at the bop last night.

The bar being closed was a bit of a pain but all you got to do is get there early and bag a table and then when you go to the bar just get 2 or 3 drinks!

Does anybody know how the text system works? I texted in a song and i got a receipt text but they never played the song :(

That's fine if nobody minds babysitting the drinks while everybody else dances.

you requested a song, thats all, there is no guarantee that the DJ will have that particular song, or if it doesnt fit in to the night then they wont play it, or they've already played it before you requested it.

Surely its better that they are least winners? I mean its how we elect our government (or worse since the grouwn-ups in our country still turn their noses up at STV)

can we just clarify a little point about the bar staff situation, the bar staff rota is done on a saturday for the following week, all booking diaries were checked and there was No FREE BOP booked, we were not informed about this until Thursday NIGHT, when most staff have already left for reading week, they are students as well! so the FREE BOP lack of Beer Bar and Staff was not the fault of the evening staff just the usual politics of daytime organisers not informing the people who are actually thrown in at the deep end again!

When I was a Sabb, I found that talking about problems face to face was a lot more productive than waiting hours for a reply on a message board (though to be fair, it was when the sinner had only just started). You get to find out EXACTLY what the people want, and what sort of emotions they actually want to express, without the limations of typing.

So yeah - if you've got a problem with the union, GO IN and actually SPEAK to the people who make the decisions. TALK to the folk whose job it is to listen to you.

If you're going to be lazy about it, either ring them and discuss your issues over the phone (is the number still on the union's website?).

Or at the very least, ask them to hold a "surgery" in the halls so that you can express your opinions directly to them.
