I'm going to Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party.

Lived in Edinburgh all my days, but my first time at said Party. Hope it's good!

Down by the fountain in Market Street - just like last year...hopefully I won't miss the start of new year this time...was 15 minutes into it last year before I realised it was new year....doh!

Read somewhere that there's gona be an extra second to wait before new year because scientists have to add a leap second in this year? How random!

Yes it's late I should go to bed.....

Edinburgh Street party for me too! Am greatly looking forward to it - promised myself I would go to one before I leave uni and it gets the year off to a good start aim-wise. Have to come back at 5:40am on the 2nd to go to work though - bah for no public transport on New Year's Day. Bah, I say!

Yes. This happens every 7 years or so at midnight UTC on the 1st January or 30th June. The earth's rotational time changes a little, and atomic clocks always should stay within 1 second of this. Basically, earth's spinning a little bit slower. So if you have an atomic clock handy, it should read 23:59:60 before ticking over to 00:00:00

I'm going back down to santa cruz and going to the catalyst. yippee! It's the hot spot down there, and no annoying high schoolers.... and tragically, I've not yet been. So that should eb fun.

Also, I can't wait to hear what a band that does ragtime, jazz, and early 90s alternative rock sounds like.

Do any of you Edinburgh street partyers want to meet up at all? I'm going too, but I'm going by myself, as everyone I know here is determined to do something else.
