*30 Reprimands + $500 Fine
*30 hours Disciplinary Community Service + possible Administrative Withdrawal. NOTE: For each accumulation of six or more reprimands after 30, an additional $150 fine will be assessed.

* Abortion

Is that for getting one, or giving one?

$500 fine and 30 reprimands for 'immorality'?

what is immorality? we need ezra to define this.

himmel, that's a nightmare list of sanctions. get fined for having an abortion? or hair violations?

i think i have all but one of the 4 reprimand categories, half of the 6 reprimand ones, most of the 12 reprimands, both of the 12-18s a handful of the 18s, and hardly any of the 18s (wow, i mix with people of the opposite sex)

Spending the night with a person of the opposite sex.

18 Reprimands + $250 Fine + 18 hours Disciplinary Community Service

Talk about removing the fun from life.

Hmm, are the fines cumulative? As presumably, to get in a state where you need an abortion, you would have had to break a number of the other rules too...

So it's ok to do all that you supposedly shouldn't do with the same sex?! Or does this come under immorality?

I agree - 'Liberty' is an interesting name.

I was just thinking that myself. What a stupid name, considering all the regulations.

I'm sorry, who would go to a University with rules like that?

I reckon I would have accrued $3,975 of fines and 402 reprimands in my 4 years at Chattan, taking non attendance at covocation to stand for tutorials, and my time at uni was relatively dull. Having said that, most of those were picked up when I was in honours...

12 Reprimands + $50 Fine
* Participation in an unauthorized petition or demonstration

In case anyone was wondering, that defies constitutional amendments 1 and 10. If you sued for those $50, you'd probably win.

Though I'm sure there's a rule against suing the school...

Ah well, it's provided us with some amusement for a dull tuesday afternoon...

This bit made me laugh:

"Handholding is the only appropriate form of personal contact. Improper personal contact or other forms of public display are considered in poor taste. After dusk, students should not be alone with an individual of the opposite sex in any unlighted area such as the ball fields, parking lots, parked cars, ravine or other wooded areas, etc. This is considered improper social behavior."

Hmmm... $3,885 of fines accrued during my four years at St Andrews... and that's only doing everything ONCE! I hate to imagine what they think of the debauchery going on elsewhere...

I want to know what "Life-threatening [...] language to others or oneself" entails.

Oh and if you think the rules about posters in halls here are bad...

" Posters and Pictures

All posters and pictures in the residence halls should coincide with the standards and policies of the University, i.e., all posters and pictures should conform to the University's music, movie, dress and conduct standards. No road, traffic, or office signs may be displayed or stored in the residence halls. Resident Directors and Resident Assistants will check rooms on a regular basis to give guidance, answer questions and ensure compliance. "

You think Liberty University is bad? At least their female students are allowed to wear trousers to class. Check out Bob Jones University: http://www.bju.edu/prospective/expect/index.html

Bob Jones is a special place. Interracial dating is not allowed.

Edit: I just read that you cannot go to the movie theatre, but bringing your pistol is fine. It's like every Southern Baptist stereotype rolled into one.

Well, you have to be able to shoot any black guy making out with your sister, don't you?

These people are on another planet.
