Seconded, you can't top a classic...though maple syrup is absolutely awesome too.

Ah, I'm hungry now...

Yes - I have to agree with this. You lose the fact that it is a pancake otherwise. Save your unorthodox fillings for some other day than shrove tuesday - heathens! :P

Roasted veggies, sour cream and grated cheese is a good one. Especially with lots of garlic.

But maple syrup has got to be somewhere near the top of my list!

[hr]

...but then again, that is only my opinion.

fillings for PANCAKES? We're not talking crepes here people. The only things that should be going on/in pancakes are fruit like blueberries or strawberries, syrup, jams, maybe whipped cream if you are feeling extravagent. Or chcolate chips.

What kind of barbarians are you?

and I just have to add...GARLIC? on a pancake?! are you nuts?

good lord!

I'm going to be twisted and say "define pancake". LOL.

Pancake in the "Pancake Tuesday" sense are the thin floppy kind a.k.a crepes. Or you get Scotch Pancakes, which awesome warmed with unhealthy amounts of butter.

Apologies, but American-style pancakes, in my experience, are gross and make me wanna heave, especially with blueberries *vom face*

I would wonder where you had "american style" pancakes if they are so nasty but that you can stand crepes etc. They are basically the same, in the basic flavors etc.
look at what wikipedia said:
"However, in Scotland pancakes, known as Scotch pancakes or drop scones in the rest of Britain, are more like the American variation and are served as such (see below)."
