Assassins!

Postby Harry Giles on Thu Mar 09, 2006 12:26 pm

They play it at a number of universities, and I'm aware of a few small intrahall games going on. But I think it would be fantastic ro run a university-wide game at St Andrews.

Here's the Cambridge rules:

http://www.srcf.ucam.org/assassins/rules.html

The basic gist is: once all players have signed up, everyone is assigned a number of people they must assassinate. Assissinations are made with toy weapons, poisoned letters, killer rabbits &c. Once you are assassinated, you are out of the game and must make a report to the game umpires, which is posted online. Once you assassinate someone you make a report to the game umpires (under your assassin's pseudonym) and are assigned a new target. The winner is the last assassin left alive.

I can envision this working brilliantly if a couple of people want to help out in setting it up, writing the rules, making a game website and so on.

What do you think? Would you like to play, or help organise?

When i visted Oxford they told us about it, the most elaborate assasination being crushed by a polystyrene fridge thrown from a building.
Im well up for it and think it would be a very good thing to start up. Perhaps if enough of us get together then we could think about starting up a society or something?

Nah, no need for a society and all the bumf that involves. Facebook club, of course (I think it'd be a good rule for all players to have Facebook profiles, to aid finding them to assassinate).

Glad you're up for it. If enough people are we'll organise a pub meeting :-D

Remember: Careless Talc Costs Lives.

YOu have to love it. Looks like an ace game, we should organise one.

I think I remember hearing about a much-reduced version of this in Uni Hall last year, though I think in that instance everyone got a ball and one name and there had to be two (no more, no less) witnesses for it to be a valid kill.

I'm tempted to join in, but at the same time I suspect I'd end up on the Incompetence list pretty quickly.
If Jack Bauer was put in a room with Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler and Nina Myers and handed a gun with two bullets, he'd shoot Nina twice.

We played this in chattan 2 years ago except the rule was we had to use water- as soon as your assassin got you with water, you were out.

I got killed during a fire alarm in the middle of the night... my bastard of a roommate actually had the sense to take a mug full (!) of water out with him...

the git.
