Tired Freudian references aside - your mother played my mighty skin flute like a surf crowned sea nymph trying to rouse Poseidon from his watery slumber!

Please, for the love of God, will somebody call these people:
It would make my week.
The 'star' is in fact a figure of St Andrew on the cross.
He is said to have suffered crucifixion at Patras (Patrae) in Achaea, on a cross of the form called Crux decussata (X-shaped cross) and commonly known as "St Andrew's cross".

According to tradition his relics were removed from Patras to Constantinople, and thence to St Andrews, in the hope that they would never be found if they were hidden in the most God-awful, windy, rainy little place in Europe. This is how the town got its name.
About the middle of the 10th century, Andrew became the patron saint of Scotland. There are several legends which state that the relics of Andrew were brought under supernatural guidance from Constantinople to the place where the modern St Andrews stands.
So as you can see, there was some freaky supernatural shit going down right from the start, if you believe the little story.
Besides, it wouldn't be the first thing in St Andrews to be claimed to be haunted.
