According to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/bigweekend06/faqs.shtml, it does indeed.

I applied for tickets, but as with most people it seems, got nothing.

THIS IS A LOCAL CONCERT FOR LOCAL PEOPLE

It's such a shame that such an event is being held under the noses of the Dundee people and very little are getting to take part.

Yeah, but very few local people are getting to go. I'm from Dundee, I applied with my Dundee address and I got no tickets. I've not heard from anyone in Dundee who got tickets, only people in St Andrews. So, although it's a local concert for local people, it is in fact utter cock, because very few Dundonians got tickets.

Quoting lizzie_liz from 22:16, 11th May 2006

accoridng to the Radio 1 website the majority were given to people in Dundee and in total 85% were given to scotland.

According to the website I looked at 42.5% of the tickets were sent to people in the Dundee area, Dundee area most likely encompasses an area wider than Tayside.

Check for yourself http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/bigweekend06/faqs.shtml

That wasn't actually my point, but then sarchasm rarely comes across well in pixel format. It's a national radio station, this isnt the Tay AM roadshow, why shouldnt tickets go to people from all over the country?

What gets me about the eBay sellers is that they got the tickets for free, are selling them on illegally (£1550!!!) and still have the audacity to charge postage on top of it.

What bastards.

As far as I know the people selling on ebay weren't expecting nearly that much, but after a couple of VIP passes reached 300 quid someone mentioned it on the radio and people have been bidding up tickets with no intention of paying. There was one set of tickets bid up to £100000 at one point.
I am angry that people applied when they had no intention of going. It was only 10 days/2 weeks ago that you had to apply, surely you knew when your exams were by then.

So why does the same not apply when there is an event in Sunderland or wherever else they put them on?
If they had kept the format of receiving tickets the same as before, i.e. queuing up for them somewhere in Dundee itself, or doing the whole "We're at a secret location, come and find us thing", it would have been much fairer.
I think it's shocking that hardly anyone from Dundee or Tayside has got them, and is it really true that the postmen stole them all?

I'm from Dundee and I got tickets! But I'm guessing I was one of the luckier Dundonians.

Look at the name of the person that actually paid 1550 though...

Quite frankly, all this is beside the point. Why would anyone actually *want* to go? (for free or otherwise)

Not everyone has quite such a "superior" taste in music as you do. ;)
