Casino Royale

Oh dear God!!!!!!!!

I saw the film last night and was Blown away by it. Daniel Craig is the best bond since Sean Connery! And the film is definitly up there with the best of them, if not is the best of them.

Who else agrees/disagrees?

I agree. A fantastic first effort. I don't know if I would say the best Bond since Connery because Brosnan was fantastic too but certainly a very different and refreshing one who was up there with them.

I thoroughly enjoyed it (except for the girl in front of me flicking a pen constantly for the last hour) and may there be many with Craig as Bond.

Also the title sequence was awesome, except for the song which was instantly forgettable.

And it is, it is a glorious thing to be a pirate king...

Probably going to see it tonight, I hear it's got good reviews. :) Hopefully it isn't quite so reliant on flashy CGI as the last couple of movies, too.

I couldn't spot any CG at all, the action is truly first class.

As for the theme song, I can't get it out of my head!

On a somewhat similar note how has Timothy Dalton ranked so high in the poll? I mean did you see License to Kill? That said I am about to go see this new one and it looks good.

OMG, Casion Royale is epic. No over the top special effects, just good old Bond. Some of the chat with the girl Vesper Lynd is immense. As for the poll...such a shame Lazenby did On Her Majesty's Secret Service, would have made a good Bond film even better.

And the aeroplane in the hangar.

Great film though - I thoroughly enjoyed it (though the poker dragged a little).

!!SPOILERS!!!

Postby The Dude on Sat Nov 18, 2006 4:14 am

I thought what made it great was haw it was more believable. The older films were marked by how over the top they were and how one dimensional a character Bond is. I am not saying that they were at all bad (at least mostly). In thins one Bond does not singlehandedly defeat great armies, he is not surrounded by the tools of some science fiction future, and his enemies are not cookie cutter villains sitting on top of great organizations. Bond is vulnerable physically, strategically, and emotionally. His enemies are not simply threatened by him and him alone. Instead of being two distinct forces at work there are others which are not as transparent as the classic villain. In the same way they are not trying to blow up Fort Knox or what have you. His enemies are part of larger problems which will not go away if he defeats them. In that respect he does not simply rely on force. The film is based around a card game after all. I think this film will make a good platform to go back to the older model at some later date but for the time being it makes for a good change.

Does anybody know what was going on at the cinema last night after the 2040 showing of Casion Royale? There was a lovely Aston Martin Vantage there along with loads of people in very posh tuxs and dresses,

By "english bird", do you mean "french bird"? She had amazing tits, but the only english bird I remember was M. And we didn't see her tits.

Was there not another special showing at midnight where you got free martinis and the like?

Yeh she's definitely French - makes me change my outlook on them somewhat. I thought the chemistry between those two was pretty intense really, shame they had to kill her off, will Bond ever marry again??

Well done for ruining the end dipshit

Oh, and to the people who voted George Lazenby as the best bond - you deserve to be shot

Well, if you've watched all the James Bonds you'd know she dies, you'd know he never marries again. I think it's either in one of the Moore or Connery films.

I haven't seen Casino Royale yet, and the story hasn't been ruined for me, because I already knew he married and she died.

I said "didn't spot any".

As for Dalton, best bond ever. Which is why I think Daniel Craig is going to be one of the best ones. Less double entendres, more bodies.
