Well of course you can, now pay attention it get's a little tricky, but I said "strict definitions" therefore having those with Conserveative beliefs being pro-life, anti-homosexual pro-gun rednecks and those of the more Liberal stanmce being smelly vegetarian hippies. So under those conditions a gay conservative wouldn't really fit now would it. Christ. Nonsense youself dickweed.

To be fair if we're following strict definitions you wouldn't get a gay conserveative, unless they were self hating like Jewish Nazis, or a Black guy in the KKK (Obligitory Dave Chapelle reference).

Like exnihilo said, of course you can have gay conservatives / Conservatives. You may have c / Conservative beliefs, but you can also still be gay. You just might not like the combination very much. To be fair, I know a fair few such people and some have problems and others do not. It's all depends on the individual.

And um yeah when it's a G.A.Y. bop in association with LBGT then it's obviously drawing on the connotations of gay. Don't be naive/stupid/ignoring the obvious to make a point.

I'm sorry, did you ignore the rest of the thread? I never said that a "G.A.Y / G-A-Y" style bop didn't have gay connatations, but that it would be very different to a "gay" bop, which I would imagine would be filled with pinkness and body glitter - y'know, all the stuff that comes with a idiot's strict definiton of being gay (bit like your strict definition of being consevative).

Here's a hint for you; when it comes to identifying and labelling people, strict definitions aren't always your friend.

Ah, American definitions? Clearly you have little to no idea what being conservative really means, and you did use lower case initially. So keep your insults to yourself, or engage your brain when posting. Both are good.

I was going to go the G.A.Y. Bop, but I didn't because it was raining. Fascinating, I know.

To the people that went: why was it called the G.A.Y. Bop, and what was particularly G.A.Y. about it?

I think someone has confused "definition" and "stereotype"
In America, conservative is supposed to mean fiscally conservative. However, I'm not going to get involved in a political sociology lesson here.

And I didn't mean the positive bit to be a pun. Honestly I was trying to pay SVS a compliment.

as the thread that you've just posted on said, it was G.A.Y. because it was imitating a London Nightclub of a similar name.

G-A-Y is the trademark of the London-based club. Presumably G.A.Y was chosen as a substitute to avoid any copyright infringement issues.

WTF has a St Andrews "bop" got to do with a London nightclub. Bunch of inverts. Fight the cause Captain Spanky, I'm right behind you (not literally, thankfully).

Exactly. Now think about it a little. Perhaps, maybe, I was trying to wind up the fucking morons who are so insicure to get wound up over a word they happily use themselves, while ignoring the intention behind it? Perhaps.
