Worst food in town?

Postby Senethro on Fri Dec 15, 2006 8:00 pm

I'm wanting suggestions for a poll. After a few people have replied I'll put the suggestions to the vote.

I nominate PM's and KFB.

And without doubt, Beaton's

Marmaris: I had a burger from there that was cooked in 3 minutes and then gave me the shits :(

I'd nominate PM'ss or KFB also.

What I find worst about PM's is you actually need a microscope to see what you're eating, the portions are that small.

I like KFB but then that might have something to do with the fact that i rarely buy anything from there when sober ;-)

KFB. Dodgy looking burgers cooked from frozen, and wet potato mush fried in oil that was last changed in the Thatcher years. PM's chips were better before they started cutting their own potatoes.

The old Littlejohns was a culinary abortion. Haven't yet tried the new one, though.

Clearly the worst food in St Andrews is probably to be found in one of the chineese restraunts on Market Street.

I'd probably have to vote for Beaton's. Saying that though, I still seem to end up eating there rather too often...

As for PMs, I think they're fairly decent, although their fish is often not as good as, say, 101s. KFB I tend to only go to when I'm drunk and over in that part of town, which is reasonably rare. :P

It's a shame that Beatons makes the list so often. The actual money per head that Charlie is given to produce meals is so low, he makes the best out of a bad job - this is manifested by the fact that if one is to dine in the union with a club or society, the food is awfully nice. Charlie is wasted on that place.

But my vote has to go to that chinese on Market Street near Costa - low standard food that had arguably never been warm, let alone when I received it.

Does anyone else think that the food at the Vic is pretty poor? I once ordered ‘Southern fried chicken’ and got a piece of shallow fried chicken breast with BBQ sauce on top! A burger I had in there once was definitely deep fried- very suspect. Staff are decent enough though. I have found that if you want good food in St Andrews you have to be prepared to pay through the nose for it. Most standard pub fare seems quite expensive for what you get.

Beatons Rocks! The price is great, Charlie's always a laugh and their Roast Duck is pretty impressive as was their christmas dinner.

Raisin is not the greatest and golf place can be a bit tempremental.

KFB- worst bloody chippy i've ever been to. yuk yuk yuk yuk!

PMs chips can be yummy but not really proper chippy chips.

Vic served me lukewarm soup with a lukewarm mocha- un im pressed!

The old LJs was pathetic, bad service, rubbish food.

I used to really like Papa Joes :-(

I reackon Beaton's isn't bad......not exactly healthy, but nice portions and pretty tasty!

Northpoint's the best by far!

The only time Beatons could be considered not-healthy is if you were to order an un-healthy meal.

Anywhere you go, chips are going to be less healthy than a salad.
With the possible exception of McDonalds, but thankfully we don't have one in this town.

This is all rather odd, as I find the KFB to produce the best chips in town, and a good selection of Pizza and Kebabs. Putting it alongside PM's or Marmaris in terms of quality seems in my view to be wrong.
