Things you've never done

Postby Bizarre Atheist on Fri May 18, 2007 9:48 am

Stemming from the fact that I've never seen St Andrews' fifth favourite film, what things have you never done that everyone else has? No need to get filthy, I'm thinking more in terms of films/books etc.

For example: I have never seen any of the Godfather films all the way through. I saw the first hour of the first one and fell asleep.

I've never read any Philip Pullman or Ted Hughes. Nor any Dickens, which is clever 'cos I'm an English student and it was on the 1003 syllabus.

Ive never seen any of the Lord of the Rings, the Matrix, or any of the Mission Impossibles...

I have come to the discovery that I do not understand any movie that Tom Cruise has been in, in fact (Vanilla Sky, Eyes Wide Shut, Mission Impossible....)

Never seen or read any Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings or Doctor Who. Don't have any burning ambition to either!

You're not missing anything - The Lord of the Rings trillogy were the three most boring films I've ever had the misfortune to suffer through.

I've never read a Harry Potter book, and have no plans to do so.

I've never seen Amelie, or Gladiator, or Pulp Fiction, or The Godfather. But I'm not sure why I should just because everybody else has. I have idiosyncratic taste, and I'm proud of that.

I've never actually swam naked (ie skinny dipped).

Not really surprising, but it still struck me in an odd way.

Also: Never read (properly) any Jane Austen. Got about a quarter of the way into Pride and Prejudice, but didn't get much further. Should probably go and read that before the end of term...

Actually, son, that's one of mine too! Thanks for reminding!

Up until Christmas I hadn't seen the original Star Wars or a single James Bond film. I've also never seen Dirty Dancing, which always seems to upset people when I tell them that. I also haven't seen the Godfather but people seem to be less upset about that one!

I haven't read any Dickens. Or Terry Pratchett. I'm more open to the latter than the former.

I haven't seen (from this thread) Dirty Dancing or The Godfather. Or Grease. I obviously missed the age at which Grease is a girl's totally fave movie, because they put the musical on at my high school and I was horrified by the story line.

My friends know not to ask me if I've seen such and such a film, because I won't have. I've probably never heard of it, which is why I can't think of anything to list here. Oh, anything scary or violent I won't have seen (KIll Bill, the Ring). I am scared enough by Harry Potter and Doctor Who.

i'm surprised there are people who dont like lotr, they were epic films... each to their own tho i suppose.

I had never actually seen the first (in terms of production date) star wars film and didnt even know it until i sat down to watch it thinking i had seen it before when it was on over xmas... that was weird. Also never skinny dipped in public...

This thread could be hijacked with Things I've Never Done in St Andrews. Then that could inspire those of you who have the chance, to do them while you still can. (I am also hijacking it with a Never Have I Ever theme.) I propose someone nudges this thread on the "Things to do before I'm 20", or whatever it's called, thread.

Never have I ever... gone to Anstruther for fish and chips (I drove through the place once, though).

Never have I ever... bought/ ate a Scottish lobster. (The New Englander in me says I should have, just to test the assertion by one older/ otherwise wise Scottish man who said they were far superior than New England lobsters.)

Never have I ever... played golf (in St Andrews or elsewhere), not mini golf, and stealing golf flags, finding golf balls and using the stolen flags for clubs.. off the Castle... on Christmas Eve... in the dark that is 2pm... does not count.

Never have I ever... gone to the Stables.

Never have I ever... gone up St Reg's Tower.

Never have I ever... gone into the Aquarium.
