I've only heard the single, the one where he's shagging his jailbait in the video. Wouldn't mind hearing the album, though I'm guessing it's not great...?

he broke my heart. he put dance remixes of heart shape glasses on there (the one you're talking about). what happened to marilyn manson being alternative? this is glorified pop. i'm horrified. but standing by him out of love and duty.

Marilyn Manson is about as alternative as Muse.

It's always sad to see an artist you like sell out, though. Groove Armada are really guilty of this in my case--they went from creative ambient techno to "HURR stupid dance choonz"-like pop bullshit. So I don't listen to them anymore.

Ambient electronic music then. Or downtempo. Whatever you want to call it, they went from being unique and interesting to generic pop group #847.

What?!

I'd say the latest release is a bit different to most stuff out there at the moment. Any examples of what it's simmilar to?

Also - while their earlier stuff was good, it is/was EXACTLY the same as other ambient/chilled music at the time.

Have you listened to Soundboy Rock? It made me gag; but that's just me. It just sounds like every other song on the music channels. Or to me it does, at least; perfectly generic.

As for their earlier albums... what else was similar to Vertigo? Because I'd probably end up buying it. I'm just disappointed that they stopped making good downtempo and moved onto dance/house.

I agree with you there that they have gone on to house, but i wouldnt have said that it was generic.

(I might be wrong) - At a simmilar time to Vertigo did Massive Attack not release mezzanine(sp)? that'd be like me saying that because they're both downtempo they're the same. When they're not (as í'm sure you'll agree).

Mezzanine was released a year before, but I'd say that album is a lot darker/moodier than Vertigo's laid back sound...

But something tells me that this might just end up being a discussion of musical tastes, and those go on forever. :p
