The Simpsons Movie

Thought I would start this off as I imagine a lot of you will see it.

Did anyone actually like it? I thought it was mediocre - some of the things to happen had happen in previous episodes. There are funny moments but there are lots of episodes I would choose over it. The colours are a lot prettier than the tv show though!

Yeah, I was a tad underwhelmed by it too. Worth a chuckle or two but don't think it came across all too well on the big screen.

Not seen it yet, but I have a horrible feeling it'll be a 25 minute Simpsons episode packed into just an hour and a half.

Where's it been shown? The adverts on the side of the buses in Edinburgh are showing it released tomorrow.

I think it's worth a look, though.

it was shown today at NPH. It seemed odd to see a bunch of people waiting in line outside the cinema at 2 in the afternoon on a wednesday. but they were all waiting for the simpsons, apparently.

Yep, it's on at the NPH.

It's a good film - some very funny bits, but as Exnihilo suggests, it's basically an extended episode. Perhaps an episode and a half in 75mins of film.

Some nice touches such as the blackboard gag, and the bits in the credits.

People really ought to realise that if the credits roll and the house lights don't go on straight away, chances are there'll be something else to watch...

Can't all be as clever as you apparently. I thought it was good. I had read some of the bad reviews and comments about it and was glad it was not as bad as people had made it out to be in fact it had some very good moments. I think it is difficult to make it into a film really.

I have found myself for the past couple of days singing "Spider Pig, Spider Pig does whatever a Spider Pig does." at work, which to be honest isn't good.

Pretty much what I thought it would be like.
The jokes are good, certainly better than your average episode (these days anyway).
I do like how they point out how much of a sucker you are at the beginning.

Probably should've just been a dvd release.

It was better then I expected, especially Homer's rant to the audience at the beginning, and the Spider-pig songs.

I saw it last night and I really enjoyed it. Sure, it could have been better, but overall it was good fun and worth the cost of admission. The opening sequences were really well done, and I loved the bit with Bart on the skateboard. I also liked the storyline with Ned Flanders (hot chocolate was brilliant!)

I think the main problem a film like that has is that they can't show every character as much as I'd like to see. I was disappointed to not see as much of Monty Burns, Apu, Willie, et al. But I understand that they can't have every character play a big part because the story would be too clumsy.

My favourite thing about the film, though, was the animation. I haven't watched the programme on tv in ages, but what struck me was the nifty camera work that gave the film a real 3D feel. It didn't look out of place like it does in South Park when they move the camera (though it's usually to parody a scene from an action film).

Overall, it's good fun and it will keep you laughing throughout. The plot is okay, some key characters were missing, but the animation and sight gags were great.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, I practically suffocated laughing when Bart got his cock out.
