The best hangover cures

Postby Legion on Sat Nov 17, 2007 4:02 pm

Nothing to do with how I feel today of course, no, nothing like that....

What's your best way to deal with a hangover?

Personally, I favour Alka Seltzer and a brisk walk in the fresh air, followed by lots of tea and continual water consumption

Irn Bru, failing that fruit juice. Sausage and chips lunch for £1.30 from 101 connection also helps.

Water. Lots and lots of water. Keep flushing it out of your bloodstream.

And coffee, lots of really strong coffee - the caffiene catalyses the removal rate of alcohol (so I'm told).

And fruit. Get the old vitamins back up, it'll make you feel better. A nice, fried breakfast also works, mainly for the salt.

And paracetamol. I don't really need to say more on that one.

...then again, that is only my opinion.

Pint of coffee from Beatons, with shot of hazlenut. (Don't go for the almond if you were drinking amaretto the night before...)

Irn Bru is also a good one, though to be honest, any fizzy drink will help to settle your stomach.

There's a magic cure-all called Resolve. Looks like something that would come out of a nuclear power station (reminds me of Mountain Dew), but it does the trick.

Best way to AVOID a hangover (other than the obvious) is to start drinking plenty of water the night before. A pint of water for every alcohol drink should do the trick.

Irn Bru and a bacon butty is always good.

Bacon and fried egg roll with HP. Should be good bacon, the yolk should be runny on the egg and it should be a proper roll too. None of those soft top Warburtons ones.

Red Kola (It's better than Irn-Bru anyway) from a refundable glass bottle.

and a cool shower.

What do you mean by "good bacon"? Does it have to be thick, or have very little added water?
And how are you cooking it? Fried until crispy, or just until it changes colour?

I like my bacon crispy, but I'll allow it cooked as the individual prefers, I recognise there are philistines out there who do like it chewy.

And yes, I mean not lots of water added type bacon, if the bacon doesnt leave that disgusting white foam when its being cooked, then its good enough.

Pint of water before bed. Then a cup of tea once wakened, then a few more hours kip followed by a double somersault backflip and a pint of guiness slightly tilted left.

Try and drink a lot of water before bed.
When you wake up, a lot of Irn Bru/tea and something to eat. A bacon roll or a Gregg's sausage roll. And a handful of painkillers.
