Any DONNIE DARKO Fans out there?

Are there any DONNIE DARKO fans out there that have seen Richard Kelly's follow-up film?
Basically, is his new film, SOUTHLAND TALES, really that good; or that bad?
To me the reviewers cannot agree on this.

Southland is going to be a cult classic. It's too complicated not to be.

There are some things about it that are messy and some that do not work. But it is about the most brave piece of filmmaking I have seen for a while.

I read Kelly's original script about 2 years ago (a friend at Fine Line forwarded it to me). And I thought it was an awesome, inspired vision of a dystopian and apocalyptic future.

Not all of the details have made it through, but a lot of it is there.

Weird gender politics; fascinating 6-screen expositions; and, would you believe?, half-decent performances from the Rock, Gellar and Seann William Scott.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this again; there is so much to mull over about it.

I'd have thought that many will turn their nose up at Southland; but, in my eyes, it's the worthy successor to Donnie Darko, which was wonderful. In its own and different way, this is too.

You know, I wasn't trying to be a dick by the way. I was just pointing out that, as you had mentioned, since views were so polarised you were unlikely to get any agreeing reviews and so the best bet is to see it yourself. Besides films of this nature are often misunderstood on cinema release.
