Any more ideas?

Oh, and if you have the contact details of potential candidates who might have shown interest in running in previous elections, please feel free to forward them to me on jws22.

How about Margaret Mountford from The Apprentice? My flatmate and only thought that for her comment about Edinburgh University - "I don't think Edinburgh" is what it used to be.

Perfect choice for us then!

I was thinking exactly the same thing! I'll get onto it.

Ooh, I've been away a while; any news?

Now, I was reading back and I'm still intrigued about exnihilo's comments about the installation of Charles Kennedy in Glasgow: what was it that happened, exactly?

And hahaha, David Miscavige... You rascal, Unreg!

Having been on the plane from Paris yesterday and spotting Dame Stella Rimington I asked her if she would consider the position - she said she would, and gave me her details to forward her further information. I think she'd be a brilliant rector. Thoughts?

I thought about her, but then thought she might be too busy with her M&S and various other directorships. I asked her predecessor who declined. I'm not sure who you are cam but if you would like a hand, James and I have put together a letter explaining it all. you can email me on rpf3.

I think she would be excellent too, as long as she can devote enough time and fulfil her duties without worrying too much about security and getting to St Andrews (Eliza's problems).

A snippet of the response from Stella Rimington:

'I have given this serious commitment a considerable amount of thought and regrettably I feel that I cannot give the position the amount of time it would deserve.

...It would be impractical for me logistically given the distances involved in travelling from London. I have a rather hectic diary and am not getting any younger; the onset of arthritis also hinders me these days.

...I am honoured to have been asked to stand at St Andrews. If it had been a few years ago I have no doubt in my mind that I would have jumped at the opportunity to represent the student community.

I wish you well in your search and I am truly flattered to have been considered.

Kind Regards,

Stella Rimington'

It's DD for me! If, after he's re-elected, he doesn't get a stellar position in the Shadow Cabinet and might have some spare time, I think we should certainly at least ask him.
