Time for a NEW RECTOR

Postby Dickie on Mon Feb 25, 2008 4:53 pm

Am I a fool and/or is the rectorship up for election in Oct/Nov?
If so I would think that those who have any interest in this should start doing some work.

Who shall we have this time?

Gordon Ramsay. Whoever voted for Simon Pepper needs their genitals kicked in.

A former student in St Andrews once rounded a corner without looking where she was going and bounced off Brian Blessed, who was strolling merrily down the street.

She remembers looking up at the big hairy man who reached out his hand to her, and boomed, "Are you alright?"

It's one of those "I wish it had happened to me" things.

Brilliant.

How long before somebody suggests the 'Man-Deity' that is Boris Johnson?

Please don't. He really is a twat.

Aye, but plenty of folk think St Andreans are twats.

Besides, Boris would be a GREAT publicity stunt.

So someone asked me "What is it you do?". I thought about it for a minute. Then I thought about it a little more. All the while I probably looked like I was staring in to space, struggling for an answer. And I was. There was only one response I could really give.

"I make sure the shit stays off the fan."

He cannot be nominated as he is an MP.

David Tennant would make a good rector.

Failing that, there's always John Simm.

Requirements for a decent Rector:

* Someone who can spare the time to visit St Andrews fairly frequently, and on important dates such as when University Court meets.

* Someone who is of strong enough character to chair the University Court, and able to stand up for the rights of the students.

And someone who has some spare cash to help with various projects, or can raise the necessary cash would be quite handy too.

Please feel free to add criteria as you see fit.

I think Jeremy CLarkson would be good he has a strong enough character to argue the students corner.

Bill and Ted beat the Grim Reaper at Twister

Bill: "You played very well, Death, especially with your totally heavy Death robes."

Death: "Don't patronise me."

Pelt them with beansprouts and vegetarian scotch eggs if they do.

But will anyone bother to do the foot work and ask these people to do the job?

And will any of the names put forward want to run the risk of loosing?

I for one will try and get Sandi Toksvic.
