Me too. Was any reason given?

Was it maybe because

...Marco Biagi was the victim of a cowardly political assassination last Tuesday...just in front of his house...

Just kidding ;) Seriously though, I'd like to know as well why he's stepped down.

Mine too. I believe his campaign was targetted by pullers-down of posters, although I don't know if that was the reason.

biagi withdraws

Postby twigdip on Tue Mar 18, 2003 3:38 pm

there was some poster-removing going on..i saw it myself...
a dirty campaign by others...no names.
Marco was truly the man for the job.
tis a sad shame.
(i agree with kensson's regime change line..)

by the way..no one in government seems to have addressed the issue of probable Increased terrorism following a declaration of war against iraq (pre-emptive)
our country is going to become a shitty place to live in....

I find it odd that, if he withdrew as of 2.30 today, someone is posting the fact just 14 minutes after he withdrew from the election. Or am I just looking for conspiracy theories?

I'm not too convinced by this either. I saw Marco only on Sunday and there was no indication that he might withdraw. The posters being pulled down was obviously not helpful but I don't think he took it seriously enough to withdraw because of it.

He withdrew at 1.30 not 2.30 at least that is when he came into the bar, and announced it.

I agree there has been some very bad campaining this year.

Blimey. I was going to vote for him as well *sighs* He must have his reasons, however, but it really is a shame because he could have been a strong president

I'd have thought that Marco wouldn't have withdrawn due to the less than exceptional dirty tricks campaigns of others - and yes, of all the candidates he was probably the only one that would actually have done a decent job.

Personally, I think a RON campaign would be a good idea.

is someone allowed to represent RON tonight at the hecklings? I also agree a RON campain could be a very good idea, there seems to have been a lot of poster removal this year more than most - strangly my posters seem to be getting left!

As luck would have it, I've run a (successful) RON campaign before. If it looks like there's enough support, I'd consider it again.

No, RON can't be represented at hecklings.
