Why does it make you happy? Am I missing something?

I don't understand - if this increase in obesity is predicted, surely that indicates that current measures to encourage healthier lifestyles are failing (utterly)? Is this article part of a drive to just make the obese feel so guilty that they make the change or kill themselves?

Why the bloody hell would that make you in any remote way happy? Some people are bloody unbelievable.
I am very glad that you are happy that these unhealthy people (and I know many of them have brought it on themselves, before anyone shouts me down)are increasing fuel crises and the price of food. You must have a very happy and contented and SIMPLE life. Who cares what people (and I mean the people suffering food and fuel shortages, not the obese people) are going through as long as you get a laugh out of it.
Wish I could feel happy by such things, life would be a breeze.

Just a guess, but I think he's being sarcastic...

...then again, that is only my opinion.

Lol, I'm not happy that fat people are bringing an early apocalypse. I just find BBC excessively exaggerating the obvious, funny. :)

Notice the name of organisation criticising this report: "National Obesity Forum" -- presumably "National Association of Fat People" doesn't have quite the right tone.
