Doctor Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog

Who's seen it? It seems that every forum I read has a thread on this but the sinner. Time to get cracking people, we don't want the internet to laugh at us.

So, if you haven't heard of it, it's a funny web production by none other than Joss Wheadon. It was born out of the writer's strike, and is probably the best thing to come out of said strike. And the songs are quite catchy too.

My sister told me about it yesterday and I've ended up watching it twice since - unfortunately it was only meant to run for a week and officially went offline at midnight last night. There's an iTunes link in its place now but apparently it's not available on the UK iTunes store yet.

However, it's definitely worth checking out (somehow!) if you enjoyed the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or are a Firefly fan, and would probably appeal to most others as well so long as they don't have a deep-seated loathing of musicals. Also it's got plenty of trademark Whedon silly quotes, which is usually a good thing.

Watched it all thanks to at least 3 webcomics telling me I ought to. It was brill (especially seeing that guy from Big Bang Theory in it) and I'm eagerly awaiting more.

How anyone can find that bland website funny is beyond me. I barely made it through the first episode and couldn't stomach watching any more of it.

Take three doses of humour and see me in the morning.

Jesus! Why is it whenever something genuinely funny comes out there's always some one to dump on it? Yeah yeah differences of opinion blah blah

Yeah, except Dr. Horrible is far from being genuinely funny.

Edit: But then again, I am also apparently a freak for thinking that Anchorman is a pile of crap, so you never know.

Ron Burgundy: Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast.
Champ Kind: It jumped up a notch.
Ron Burgundy: It did, didn't it?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart.
Ron Burgundy: I saw that. Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.
Ron Burgundy: Brick, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder.

But then again I'm someone who thinks Friends (or most typical american sitcoms) is so unfunny that it's insulting.

Most sitcoms are awful. I don't know, I'm more a fan of bizarre comedy like The Mighty Boosh, Ren & Stimpy, or Black Books. *shrug*

You didn't like 'Moist'?! Heh, I totally love 'moist' - partially because it's a dirty word in Dead Like Me . . . I'm a total geek. I also found a Stargate Atlantis version of Dr Horrible. So cute.

Brick Tamland: I don't know what we're yelling about.
Brian Fantana: You're with us, Ron, what do you think?
Ron Burgundy: [shouting] She... Sh... It's terrible. She has beautiful eyes, and her hair smells like cinnamon.
Brick Tamland: [shouts] Loud noises.
...
I read somewhere their periods attract bears. Bears can smell the menstruation.
Brian Fantana: Well, that's just great. You hear that, Ed? Bears. Now you're putting the whole station in jeopardy

I was a bit disappointed by the predictable ending; yet as it was only 40 mins long (a lot of this being taken up by songs)I concede that it's a bit unrealistic to ask for much more plot than that.

The appearance of the guy from the Big Bang Theory in the character of 'Moist' was a bit like the janitor from Scrubs turning up in Indiana Jones - 'hey, it's that guy I've seen in a sitcom' ... 'and he's hardly in it, so barely worth commenting on'.
