Restaurant music ideas?

Postby wastingtime on Wed Jul 30, 2008 5:52 pm

I have to make some playlists for a traditional restaurant.
Only thing I've got to go on is 'not depressing pop', classics, some light classical, romantic, feelgood, Van the man.
Any ideas for artists?

AxCx

(Post edited - not because I disagree with your music taste, but simply because this is a more acceptable method of nomenclature for this particular band.

I've heard Lemon Jelly used in restaurants and was very impressed with it. Start with Lost Horizons.

I'd have a look through TV soundtracks like Grey's Anatomy or Veronica Mars; the music there will have been used in the background by them already.

I'd also recommend something like The Submarines for pleasing pop music.

A bit of Sigur Ros would maybe fit. Michael Buble/Jamie Cullum/etc also works nicely. Summer Breeze by the Isley Brothers and similar tracks. Corrine Bailey Ray at a push (although I don't really like her stuff myself).
If you are looking for unusual stuff, then try Thirteen Senses (although this may be a little to anthemic for what you want) and Hoobastank (same problem).

Hope at least some of these prove useful

? The humble question mark?
? So much mightier than the sword?
...and as the red red robin of time goes bob bob bobbin under the snowplough of eternity.... I see it's time to end

frank sinatra, dean martin, four tops, louis armstrong, etc.

Not too intrusive, chilled out and pretty cool.
