I'm pretty stuck atm

Postby JayJayZeMofo on Thu Sep 11, 2008 12:03 am

Hey, is there anyone else that applied AFTER 31st May and wasn't guaranteed a place in Halls of Residence?

I've just received word that I won't be allocated a place in Halls
So i've got to find my own flat or house. :o

Just wondering if im the only one out there? :)

If not, contact me... I'm getting pretty worried atm, got to find a place in like 11 days!

try the accomodation board. You'd be surprised at how well it actually works.

You're not the only one out there, don't worry.

Firstly - to help you find accommodation, the Students' Association is doing all it can to find houses and flats for rent, and giving you as much information as possible.
Have a look at http://www.yourunion.net/news/index.php ... s_id=14865 for a bit more info.

Secondly, the Students' Association has formed the Townsend Society - a society specifically for people like you who are not in halls of residence, so you don't miss out on all the inter-hall activities, and you can meet all the people who are in the same situation. The Townsend society sounds like a really good idea. Have you considered opening it to all students who don't live in halls? I think it would benefit both sides since not living in halls can make it more difficult for 3rd/4th years to find children to adopt and vice versa. And also just for the benefit of the freshers meeting older students who know the place a bit better and these older students making new friends :-)

This all seems a bit Crichton Montrose to me.

It's being aimed primarily at non-halls first years, but the events will be open to everyone.

What's the difference between this new Townsend Society and Crichton Montrose? Or is this CM by another name?

Maybe Crichton Montrose wasn't swish, or dynamic enough. Or it's just a subset of Crichton Montrose only for first years.

Or maybe "Crichton Montrose" was just too traditional a name for these times.
