A very small proportion of posts did not survive the migration because phpBB deemed them invalid for one reason or another. This must have been one.

Turns out it was a relatively minor conversion issue, due to the fact the old sinner let you enter your username in whatever form of capitals you liked, which confused my script. Those broken posts should now all have magically reappeared.
