I chanced on part 2 straight away, but part 1 has me stumped. I've been sightseeing all around Northern Germany. Can anybody help? I don't think I can work out the final answer with only half the riddle.

I think I'm getting somewhere with the riddle:

I think the 4 songs bit refers to EPs (which have 4 songs on), the cardinals bit I'm not sure on, but they had to stop wearing their hats in 1969 and Kathiawar is the home of Gandhi and Indian independence in 1947. Add the present I think means add 2008 and i guess you are looking for a numerical answer, maybe a global position in N/E co-ordinates?
