Ming gets one up on Brian

What's going on with the hair? Poor Brian. I think the expressions on their faces say it all.

I think it's great that the University has got the local kids involved to help paint a picture.
Which school were they from?

Edit - oops, just read the article. How embarrassing. I hadn't realised she was a shortlisted professional artist.

Am I the only one who thinks that is a rather poor likeness. The face is far more elongated than Lang's actually is, and misses out the mini- double chin. Then again, perhaps its the angle.

I wish they wouldn't post tributes on the website. No doubt he's done wonders for the university (no doubt the trots will disagree on that point). Still, I'd prefer time decided how the principal stands up against his predecessors, and how his tenure has helped the university in the long-term.
Now some people weren't happy about the content of that last post. And we can't have someone not happy. Not on the internet.

Notice Brian's purple socks in the painting!

And if you need any more convincing that the man has no taste (and neither has Ming), they are both wearing tartan trousers with dinner jackets.

To paraphrase Wodehouse's Psmith: "Anyone who wears tartan trousers with a dinner jacket has quite clearly passed beyond the limits of human toleration."

It would interesting to see the painting and Blang with just their faces immediately side by side.
Then see if Dr Lang can pull the same facial expression he appears to have in the painting.

Oh, and Jono, I think everyone on this thread has either made some kind of reference to it being a poor portrait or hasn't bothered as it is so obvious..., so you're not the only one to think that it isn't very good.... in fact, I'd probably go further than that...........

Good to see Ming is enjoying himself though.

It's probably worth mentioning that the same artist is painting Ming's portrait for the House of Commons.

But James, Ming won't mind - he doesn't have a worry in the world......

Arf. Fortunately he'll be dead soon, so won't notice.

He's holding it the wrong way up.

Edit: On a more serious note, does anyone know how much the university paid to commission that monstrosity?
