People who are awesome

Postby the Empress on Wed Mar 11, 2009 6:43 pm

Making a happy thread!

So, what person (politican, celeb, whatever) do you think is simply awesome? Make it as frivolous or embaressing as you like!

I love Tyra Banks. I'm not even remotely modelesque or fashionable, and yet . . . I have become addicted to her brand of awesomeness. She's totally going to conquer the world:D Her words are as gospel. Sneer if you must, but America's Next Top Model FTW. It's all about the eyes . . . .

Fashion: Where a bunch of sheep convince another bunch of sheep that they must follow the flock for fear that the other sheep think that they're not part of the flock.

Iain Banks is pretty awesome.

The happy point? No, I got that much.

I'm happy to say that Iain Banks is as awesome as when I last said so.

Stephen Fry.

There seem to be absolutely no limits to his fascination of the world around us, from the truly profound to the twitteringly pointless. And he goes about his day with such a perfectly charming personality...

Indeed, Stephen Fry is delectably awesome. Such a shame Douglas Adams isn't still with us.

James Randi and Steven Novella are pretty damn good. SGU's a tremendous bit of listening.

Michael Palin is quite awesome. A very funny man in his Monty Python days, and his travel documentaries are pretty good too, with nice touches of humour and warmth that you don't get from a lot of presenters.

Darren Brown..... or Derren Brown? I've never heard of Darren Brown, but if he does exist as a magician, what's his act like? If you did mean Derren, I agree that his shows are good - but he comes across as mighty arrogant in his books.

I think Alan Davis and Hugh Lawrie should fit into the 'awesome' category....

If you're using WinXP, Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map
Click on the letter with the appropriate accent. Select. Copy. Then ctrl-v wherever you're typing your text. Et voilà! <- see?

Or... if you notice in Character Map, in the status bar at the bottom right, it gives the appropriate keystroke. If you want è you just hold down Alt and press 0232 on your numeric keypad. Although that's not so easy to remember <_<

If you're not using WinXP... <shrug>

I've not yet met or seen anyone who has left me lost for words, unable to catch my breath nor comprehend their existence.

I do however, consider several people to be quite cool, or worthy of admiration.

Feck, James Randi's got old since the last video of his I saw.
