He threw a glass of water in my face yesterday evening, the bar steward.

Rory was behind the bar? You mean he was actually doing some work?

[hr]'I said I'd enjoyed talking to them a lot, too. I meant it, too. I'd have enjoyed it even more though, I think, if I hadn't been sort of afraid, the whole time I was talking to them, that they'd all of a sudden try to find out if I was a Catholic.'

Goodness, no - I said "bar steward" euphemistically, meaning child-of-unmarried-parents.

And sorry for starting this thread - I was still drunk.

Donald you were throwing stuff at him first. That's why he threw water in your face (though most ended up over Eliot)
Some day we shall be glad to remember such things

What!? He started the whole beermat/ice-throwing thing at the beginning of the dinner. All I had thrown at him was a slice of lemon and a single ice-cube.

I'm the injured party!

Not if the one being liquid-fied is a vampire and the "liquid water" (the best sort, I find) is liquid holy water. That would cause all manner of pain and burning. Whereas the "solid water" (or "holy ice") would cause minimal discomfort due to its lack of time in contact with the skin.
