Without wishing to start another 'laugh at Americans' thread, I found this and thought it rather amusing.

The best things to bring are:

· a pair of hiking boots fair enough, hillwalking is a great way to see the country

· a yearbook or photo album I love my yearbook

· prescriptions If you want to set up a street corner "pharmacy"

· sporting wear (if you play soccer, bring cleats, etc.) there's nothing worse than playing with borrowed kit

· feminine products (who knows what the Scots use!) WHAT?! that's a very wierd thing to write

apart from the last bit, it's all fairly straight forward for introducing people to st andrews and explaining clearly what they can expect to go through.

Mixer taps were illegal in this country until recently for a very good reason. This country is one of the few in the world which has gravity fed water systems. It was thought that water from the hot water system with its associated heavy metal and other contaminants could easily get into the cold, drinking, water system.

Harsh. How come Colchester? Fair point about it being fair enough but I do worry when it says English=British. Did I misread the context?

Does the writer think the reader is going to a third world country? Same goes for deoderants. To any Americans thinking about coming here. It may be unthinkable but we have shops here. You do not need to pack a suitcase of deoderants and sanitary products. If you run out of the later you will not need to use rags for the rest of the year. Mind you I always wondered why it was called Rag week.

um, must disagree with the whole feminine products thing. i have yet to find good tampons here; they're all crap. and if you are allergic to aerosol and/or scented deodorant, you're screwed.

WTF? We use the same brands as you guys. Tampax IS an international brand y'know. And their products are EXACTLY the same here as over there.

Our products inferior? I've never heard such a loads of rubbish.

Coke is definitely different here. I think it has something to do with the water.

Oh, how I miss American Coke... when I was home for Christmas I went through two 12 packs... mmmm.

And yes, when I came here and saw Melville, I really did cry and want to go home. But I'm still here - and still in Melville. And it's great!
