Hoods in Chapel

Postby ojk6 on Sat Oct 10, 2009 6:28 pm

Hi Guys

Was just recently given the hood for my first degree to go with the gown I've had for a few years. Does anyone actually wear their hood to chapel? Is it "the done thing"?

Cheers

Go as an undergrad in a red gown, scope it out, look for others in grad gowns. Problem solved.

The staff certainly wear their hoods, so I would imagine other graduates should too.

On another point, I was once in chapel on some special occasion (I forget what) and Brian Lang was part of the procession in his Vice-Chancellor's robes - actually wearing his trencher inside the chapel. Surely that's wrong?
