Woolworths?

Does anyone know what is happening to the ex-Woolworths on Market Street? The Fife Council planning application is here: http://planning.fife.gov.uk/online/applicationDetails.do?action=showSummary&caseNo=09/02569/FULL

It seems to suggest there will be a retail area (the only hint at what they will be selling is the inclusion of an off-sales aisle) on the ground floor with a bar/restaurant on the first floor. Anybody know other detail?

They want permission to change it "from retail and storage (class 1) to restaurant/bar" and then this proposed plan shows the first floor bar at the front of the building with a restaurant at the back: http://planning.fife.gov.uk/online/file ... 568212.pdf

I just hope the food/drink is cheap and the shop will sell video games. I can dream

I just looked at the comment section. The manager says it will be used for food retail. Hopefully that can help push down prices in Tesco.

I could be wrong, but I don't associate Nisa Today's with value for money. In which case you'd wonder why opening one directly opposite Tescos would be a good idea.

You mean, The Co-operative? It bought Alldays years ago, but that store was shut not long afterwards, before it had even been re-branded. Dreadfully managed, as far as I can remember.

NISA is what's known as a symbol group, so the shops are operated as independent franchises, with the centre providing support in buying, marketing, HR, etc. Hopefully that means they'll be able to tailor the range to the local market more closely than a chain shop should tend to, but I'm pretty sure I've never been in one in my life.

I have a Nisa Extra where I come from, down south. Nisa do have a reputation for cheap prices and a big range of products. At the very least, it will cut down queue times as they seem to have a lot of tills from what is visible from the outside. The fact that they're 24 hours and close to me will be useful
