I do not make this post in support of Islam4UK. However, I would like to know what those aware of the banning of Islam4UK think about the issues involved.

It would all depend upon whether they qualify on any of these grounds:-
Under the Terrorism Act 2000, a group can be banned if it "commits or participates in acts of terrorism, prepares for, promotes or encourages terrorism or is otherwise concerned in terrorism".
Groups can also be outlawed if they "unlawfully glorify the commission or preparation of acts of terrorism".

Nothing I've heard about the group would make them meet any of those criteria. Perhaps they do. If so, some evidence would be good.

I sympathise with their views wrt protesting about the loss of civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq. Which the USA & Co. are responsible for starting... however the ongoing deaths are almost entirely down to Taliban / misc. insurgents. If the group were to also protest in Iraq and Afghanistan, I'd greatly respect their commitment to peace; however, I rather suspect that their diary didn't say "January: Wooton Basset / February: Baghdad / March: Helmand".

<shrug>

Regardless of what I think about their views, either we have free speech or we don't. We can't pick and choose whose views are allowed to be heard. Slippery slope 'n' all that jazz.

PS Just experienced the problem with TheSinner working from IE. That's after a fresh install of Windows 7 using the latest version of IE. Had to load up Chrome to reply.

inconveniently (although probably rightly) their websites been taken town...I came across it a bit ago and while there seemed some attempt to "tick the boxes" stating they were a peaceful organization, if you read the text - the general gist was british people are bad, they lead evil lives, The british government is evil, and Britain *should be taken over by an islam-enforcing government*.....not exactly what I'd call a kosher group! Oh, and there was quite a few pages about how a wife of an Islamic extremist should shut-up and support her husband in his endeavors - not distracting him by nagging him about things like cooking his own fecking dinner or picking up his dirty socks....bad wifey.

I can see why they were shut down...I was shocked I was able to look at it when I did!
