Hairdressers?

I reckon I need to get a haircut soon...it's been about probably over a year since I last got my hair trimmed.

I cringe at the thought of creative hairdressers who hack off half your hair because it'll look "fa-ha-bu-lous" even after you tell them, "just the ends!"

So I'm wondering, does anyone know of any hairdressers I can go to that really know how to deal with long, frizzy/curly,thick, unruly, volumous hair?

Please give advice based on personal experience, or someone you know who's been there; I don't want to go somewhere just because it's cheap or looks fancy. I'll go as far as Dundee, maybe even Edinburgh, for a decent haircut.

I know this may sound exaggerated, but if you had my hair, you'd understand. ;o]

Well, if you just want a decent hair cut at a reasonable price, i recommend hugh farquhar on church street - its a good salon, just like the kind u'd find in any normal town in scotland ;) I have really long curly frizzy hair but i got a good trim, blowdry and style in there for £15. The woman straightened my hair so well that i didnt wash it for 5 days :$ very sad, but it really was a novelty for me :)

Thats the only hairdresser ive been to here, but i'd definately go back. The other places in st andrews scare me a bit :|

I go to Glasgow to get my hair cut. They have Toni & Guy (on St Vincent Street), Rainbow Room International (George Square) and Vidal Sassoon (Princes' Square).

I am sure there is a Toni & Guy salon in Edinburgh, just never been.

I've been to hugh farquhar as well, it is pretty good there, you can just go in if you need to, no appointments necessary, but watch out around school out time, i always seem to see dads taking in their brood for a quick trim around then.
I've also been to Charlie Taylor, round the corner, which was all very nice, but quite expensive (me mam was paying) and the charming woman made me feel terrible about wanting my hair cut and even worse about using head and shoulders (after sniffing my head, she told me it smelt all wrong) tho i ignored her and still use it, it stops my head itching and cosmopolitan like it too.
anyway, i'de avoid twere i you.

I went to Sophie Butler the other day to get a haircut. It was scary, as my hairdresser was French and her English was very poor. I was terrified, and kept flinching, and she was trying so hard to please. I'm not totally dissatisfied with the results, though.

The best cut I got was free as a hair model for Sophie Butler. Ask for Adette regardless, she is amazing and quite a few of my friends have also had their hair cut by her and liked it. The cost ranges from free to about £30 I think - a much better deal than the trim I got here in Edinburgh last week for £33. Eek!
