there's a creative writing society for that sort of thing.

the spotlight society hold discussion evenings every other wednesday in mansefield in term time. bring your stuff along, and see what they say.

more info will be posted when we get dates sorted out.

eh, let's hope it gets sorted out better than last year. I went to the first meeting, met some neat people, then nothing for months and months. most mysterious

A Poem What I Wrote

Postby Creep on Fri Jan 16, 2004 3:29 pm

Take up the White Man's burden -
Release your monsters to breed -
Unbutton your FCUK silk boxers
To service your woman's need.
Come to the ports you must enter,
By the roads which so many do tread,
Deliver your soft white offspring,
Provided you're not so drugged that they're all dead.

Take up the White Man's burden -
Have done with childish days -
The lightly stained sport socks,
Your mother's spiteful praise.
Come now, uncloak your manhood,
May all those thankless years,
Towel whippings and bogwashes, reveal
That English public-school boys still get more muff than their peers!

There were problems with a venue for the discussion evenings last year but last semester they were held every fortnight in the Mansfield building. We also had two really useful workshops held by prominent writers in the English department.

The first meeting of second semester should be in Week 2 in February, possible in the Byre. I'll post the exact details on the Sinner calendar closer to the time but please do come along!!

Glad you guys got things sorted, although as I'm not in St Andrews now it's all academic for me, sadly. Hope this term goes well too!
