In my first year, I went on a really nice jaunt to the highlands with some mates and then to my pal Ali's. She stays just over the highland line and we were there for Burns night, it was really cool. In my second year I broke my elbow! In my third I went home for a week and this year I'm at home anyway because I had to take last semester out on medical grounds.

Have you been down the Fife coast atall?Crail and Anstruther are beautiful. This is a great time to go exploring Scotland --it's cold but should be nice and quiet if you want to go somewhere like Iona. I went there with friends after semester 2 exams in first year. Go travel! don't waste time sitting about in St andrews--get out and do stuff!

What ever you do, ENJOY!

travel the word
cure cancer
cure some meat (probably takes ages)
see The Cure (they're probably not touring but you could either find a vid of them - plenty of gooduns around - or just find them via stalkerage)
sleep
break a world record
score a record (on shellac)
break the record you've just scored (on shellac)
discover Shellac (the band fronted by the mighty Steve Albini)
make some shellac (out of beetles or whatever they use)
listen to the beatles
eat just crisps for 2 weeks
bathe in dripping in your y-fronts then jump out & run down Market St yelling Eureke-ka-ka-ka! in tourettes like fashion
or just kill yourself

I'm off to Prague for a few days.

Until then, I'm drinking.

Or possibly going to Florence.

i would love to travel but just cannot afford it. any ticket i find are always priced so high (500+), i wonder how other students can afford it. the money i get from my parents are there to pay the fixed dorm and fee costs, any remainder on food :o(

it sucks being poor.

Um...try being poor and paying for all of Uni without help from parents. That sucks even more.

there are plenty of things to do here in St Andrew's. there must be a few places you haven't walked or been to. stay up late some nights. walk to the beaches & delve into the sea. have a competition with one of your mates & see who can go without sleep the longest. read up those preparation notes. do something you haven't done in a while 'cause you hadn't had the time.

one of those cases of looking at how how full rather than how empty the bowl is.

I'm just getting hammered! Probably go find a job back home to make up a little of my overdraft, and of course I got my job interview in London, and I havent been to London since I was 6, should be fun!

find a cheap easyjet flight and then stay in a hostel. we went to prague and venice last year, are chilling out and going to ayrshire and possibly the isle of skye this year - there's a shedload of things you can do on a tiny budget.

I might at some point be taking my computer into Venue 1 to play games on big screen, (as long as nothing is on), if a few people want to come too thats fine, bring a PS2, Xbox, PC whatever, and we'll have a gaming session. But I can't promise that it'll happen - only an idea at moment.

I'll post again after exams to tell you whats happening

cheap flights

Postby dan greenberg on Sat Jan 17, 2004 10:00 pm

You couldn't find a ticket for less than 500 + ? I have a round trip ticket to Venice for 20 pounds via ryanair, and most of that is just taxes! Tickets themselves were 52 pence and one penny. I was shocked. Hell, food will cost more than my plane costs! I think Ryanair is still doing some deals now, though (slightly) more expensive. www.ryanair.co.uk

Yes I WOULD let us! Don't know if Ben would like it, but that doesn't matter, we can do it officially if he insists.

Im not sure how we'd connect to LAN if we did - I'll leave that to you comp sci students.

What would u like to play? Multiplayer on PS2/Xbox etc, or PC games, I was thinking I'd play Vice City, or Pod Racer (with lots of bass), or something...?
