if we're talking early Manics it would have to be them. but seeing as it doesn't specify then it's too much to risk. with Rock 'n Roll dying you wouldn't want to give everyone copies of This Is My Truth to relight the fire.

I would prefer early Manics. To the Beatles fan-I'm sorry. I clean forgot.

The Rolling Stones even more than the Beatles would exemplify the very spirit & music of Rock n Roll for me. the Beatles were terrific in their own right, but they weren't really quintessentially Rock n Roll in the way The Stones were.

I guess it's not possible to mention everyone. Still - no Who. Or Jimi Hendrix. It's a bit of a 'white' and male list as well isn't it?

It'll have to be Bill and Ted.

Also four bands on the list have missing or dead members. And as for Elvis, he's 'completely' dead! Are we assuming that come the revolution we will be able to resurrect these people!

Also if you take into account how many members of Iron Maiden there have been, I reckon they'd win as they currently outnumber the Belgian population.

Steve Harris
Paul Di'Anno
Doug Sampson
Dave Murray
Adrian Smith
Clive Burr
Bruce Dickinson
Nicko McBrain
Blaze Bayley <- :D
Janick Gers

And that's just the members from after they started recording. No wonder they once played under the name "The Entire Population of Hackney".

Iron Maiden members: Bruce Dickinson, Paul Di'Anno, Adrian Smith, Thunderstick, Clive Burr, Janick Gers, Steve Harris, Nicko McBrain, Dennis Stratton, Blaze Bayley, Doug Sampson, David Murray, Tony Parsons & Dennis Wilcock.

that's 14 i believe.

Black Sabbath members: Ian Gillan, Ozzy Osbourne, Glenn Hughes, Don Airey, Vinny Appice, Bev Bevan, Geezer Butler, Terry Chimes, Laurence Cottle, Bob Daisley, Ronnie James Dio, Ray Gillen, Tony Iommi, Neil Murray, Geoff Nichols, Cozy Powell, Bob Rondinelli, Eric Singer, Dave Spitz, Dave Walker, Jo Burt, Bill Ward, Dave Donato, Tony Martin, Donna Donato & Steve Redvers

26 members, but that's Iommi's fault.

polyphonic spree members - i'm not sure, but it must be hovering around 24-26 at least, AND that's them all on stage at the same time.

Elbow tried to credit as many crowd members as they could that 'appeared' singing along on their last LP. that was at least a few hundred maybe even thousands.

The list is purely hypothetical and not reliant on whos alive or dead. With regards to the kinks, I feel shit now since I'm a fan.
To the 'white' and male person-don't strat waving that stick. Its unnecessary. When I compiled this it was entirely random and intended to cover rock, punk and metal.

More that it's just not rock & roll, like the last very similar poll about this. Elvis is Rock & Roll sure but most of the rest are in other catagories of rock. No bands in the last two decades have been rock & roll because that kind of music came from a specific time period. People like Elvis, Buddy Holly, Little Richard etc are Rock & Roll.

So in that repect the only viable winning answer on the poll is Elvis. Easy.
