I recently managed to buy a DVD of the Muppet Show which I watched when I was younger and I can't wait to get to watch it at home and I just wondered, out of nosiness and procrastination purposes you understand, what everyones favourite tv show was when they were a kid. I remember the Muppets, He-Man & She-ra, Thundercats, Flintstones, Fraggle Rock....oh how I loved them!

My absolute favourite from my early childhood was probably Thundercats (I have a VHS copy of Thundercats Ho! - The Movie with me at uni).

Yes, yes. All of the others kicked arse as well, Transformers, He-Man and so on. The Turtles turned into a very big influence in the late 80s.

Then there's a whole flood of random ones that still tap into my nostalgia - Shoe People, Gummie Bears, Dino Riders, Ewoks (did anyone else watch this? Ramming speed!), Dogtanian (Woof woof woof woof woof woof woof, Muskethounds are always ready) etc.

Aah... what is was to be a child of the 80s.

Films: The Last Unicorn, Flight of the dragons (I watched them again at uni - one has a taking pirate cat with no explanation, the most annoying singing butterfly in the world and similar eccentricities: they're still my favouites:)
Seires: He-man (they've just made a new series too - it's great!), Thundercats, Fraggle Rock (downloaded the song last week). . .
[edit]Shoe People - yes! I was talking about this the other day but no one knew what I meant; I wanted to be the ballerina shoe. The Gummie Bears, Ewoks (yes! sooo cute), Dogtanian and the Turtles (I still hate Leonardo, Donatello should definitely have been the leader).

i remember!!! i had the video...Oh i loved old Wurzel and his constant effort to keep all his straw inside him...The 80's were truly a great decade to be living in, and you know you're a child of the 80's when you remember when Michael Jackson was black, you had a Global Technicolour T-Shirt that changed colour if you breathed on it and if you had a toy version of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters!

'sharky and george' were great - especially the song! Anyone like 'catch catch that pigeon'- with mutley, a weird guy, an aeroplane and a pigeon? I remember playing it with my best friend in the yard. Ah, those were the days . . And the 'Godpigeon'; that was GREAT!
