"just because you are born in a stable, it does not mean that you are a horse"

So...that Cromwell eh?

Has there been a debate on him recently? Or at all? That would get at the very least heated, at the most violent.

Quarterstaff - I think it's a misprint on your part, but surely the Boot Duke said that being born in a stable does not make one a horse?

He was an Enlgishman born in Dublin, if I remember rightly.

His family (the Earls of Mornington) were Irish landowners. I don't know how Irish that made them.

this is the british isles.... you are scottish if you think you are, likewise with ireland.

old arthur obviously considered himself british, and of english descent, not irish

LOOK asshole.

i am catholic. i hate football. i despise secrarianism.

but i enjoy a good joke.

grow up... your actual religion is a personal thing... between you and god. who gives a fuck what i say... it does not affect your relationship with god...

in fact by making light of religion we stop eejits taking it seriously... because those who take religion seriously end up thinking it is their relationship with their religious organisation is more important than their relationship with god.

taking religion seriously is what leads to bigotry... laughing about it is what stops bigotry.

This is actually quite sensible.

You've no idea how hard it was to avoid writing something in caps about the merits of another argumentative thread ;)

Don't get me wrong, some argumentitive threads are great craic to observe and participate in, but ones that take the line

"You're a moron"
"Fuck off and don't call me a moron"
"Oh, how mature, you must be a moron to act so childishly, you moron"

wear thin very quickly
