Training Semester Two

Postby Rach on Sat Feb 04, 2006 11:10 am

Hi everyone, Rachael here, just letting you all know about times and locations for training this semester. There are a few changes so please make note of the alterations in days and rooms.

Public Speaking training will now be on Monday evenings from 7.30 until 10.00 pm in the TV Room, top floor of the Union

Debating Training (all are welcome) will be on Wednesday afternoons from 2.00 until 4.45 pm in the Salad Bowl, top floor of the Union

Advanced Debating Training (invitation only) will be held on Sunday evenings, from 7.30 until 10.00 pm, in the Salad Bowl.

Training for all will begin in the first week of Candlemas semester.

On Sunday 5th February (this Sunday) advanced training will be held for all teams taking part in the second round of the Mace. As we have a team in each position on the table, we will be holding the debate for the second round, the motion being TTHW ban the construction of new nuclear power stations in Scotland. The positions, i believe, are:

1st prop E (Doug and Connie)
1st opp C (Ollie and Rach)
2nd prop B (Chris and Aaron)
2nd opp F (John and Jason)

Rounds start on Monday night, so this opportunity will be invaluable to practice and find out what the other side are probably going to be saying!

Anyone who usually attends advanced training is welcome to come along on Sunday night: the debate should be a good one, and you can have some practice at advanced judging!

Hope that's all ok with everyone, and looking forward to seeing you all at training!

Yep, both are open to complete beginners. Wednesday afternoons will be continuing our training programme, after a brief revision of the basics from last semester, and Monday nights public speaking training is open to absolutely anyone as well. From Monday of Week 3, Mr. David Bean will be running a three-week course on public speaking and oratory, at 7.30 until 10pm in the TV Room, Top Floor of the Union, at which all are welcome.

Yes indeed, thanks, Rachel: starting next Monday, learn to be a great orator in three easy lessons, or your money back*! :)
