BoT meetings?

Postby Lid on Thu Apr 13, 2006 1:52 am

Just a quick question about board. Not meaning to rock the boat here, or kick up dust, it's a genuine question.

I'm interested in attending board this semester, to see the new board in action and so forth. I believe it was held at a different time this week.

Was this announced? Surely all members should have some notification, but I don't seem to be able to find any via the Debates Linkup, The Sinner, and so forth.

When will it be held from now on?

meetings

Postby Jessica on Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:44 am

Yes! Please come along to meetings which are normally (and will be this coming week) at 4 in the Committee Room. We'd love to see you.

Apologies for last weeks meeting. As the Inaugural Debate was to be held Wednesday night, and we needed to organise it we held the meeting on Monday night (so there was no need for a meeting this Wednesday). I'll make sure to publicise meeting changes better next time.

Any futher queries can be addressed to me at js482 or to the Convenor, Miss Rachel Whitbread at rew25.

Also you can get minutes from the meeting (which will be posted on the board outside the general office soon) from the Clerk, Miss Beth Conner at bjc7.

Hope that solves things.

Apologies accepted, but please take note of the Laws: Debates Chapter section II,4,ii "All meetings of the House and Board must be clearly advertised at least five days before the meeting."

This was put into the Laws because, as I recall, a certain convener (I would not want to name them) had a habit of holding BOT meetings at various times and places including their flat.

I accept that this was a one off due to the organisation of the fun first debate of this fun convener, best of wishes for the year.

Thank you for the understanding. This meeting change was due largely to the need to plan for the Inaugural as well as the obstacle we like to call (and I apologise for my american terminology) 'spring break.' I promise more information next time.

It wasn't a breach in the Laws, because the extra meeting we held on Monday had been correctly advertised, but Wednesday's was later cancelled. There's nothing in the Laws to suggest you can't accidentally advertise a meeting that ends up not happening! :)

If it's who I'm thinking of, name them, name them! Mind you, at least two convenors that I can think of have more than once had Board of Ten meetings in private flats.

Quite. Especially as the Comms Secretary has already apologised for it not being advertised :P

At least it's clear where subsequent ones will be

In which linkup was it? (And we are asking about the BOT meeting on 10th April.)

Not in any linkups I have. The only mention of board meetings has been the one this coming Wednesday.

Just to reiterate, I'm not nagging you, just wondering where David had seen it advertised!

Balaka trials are slated for 1-5 Salad Bowl on Wednesday. Given the interest of much of the Board in the Balaka, how is the clash with the scheduled board meeting to be reconciled.

Cheers,
-Doug
