Elections 2008 (Student St An ones)

It has been suggested that ComedySock submit someone/thing to rumn for president in the Student Association elections next semester.
Eligable candidates so far:
An inflatable kangaroo
A Society member

A campaign promoting an evil empire and enslavement of mankind would camoflage in with the other nominees. We might get far.
Iv got friends whove done this sort of thing for real and can advise about publicity.

Our mascot used to be a sock puppet didn't it? If we have it represent the fabricated citizens of St andrews that's like being black or a woman candidate, its a guaranteed minorities-considering sympathy vote puller!!!
The posters could get increasingly riled up about socks being trodden underfoot for too long! Puppets have been relegated to working in childrens shows in Hollywood.
And if we want to pull out of the campaign we can issue a statement about alleged sex scandal with the party secretary. I mean it is a sock.

LISTEN UP political pranksters! Election to the Students' Representative Council and Student Services Committee will take place on Friday 14th March 2008. Positions that are available for election include 'Association President (sabbatical)' ...and we WANT IT!
Nominations will open on Monday 3rd March 2008 at 9.30am and close on Friday 7th March at 4.30pm.

Considering our(my) intentions of openly ridiculing the unapologetic hackery based system of the elections process and tertiary aims of toppling it from within by masquerading as a legitimate candidate in the form of an inflatable Dalek (on loan), the chances of our success are slim, gentlemen. But just in case, the winning senator takes office on July 1st in the year of election (2 weeks of training commences in June- please consult with the outgoing sabbaticals as to the arrangements). All other positions take office on the Monday of week 8 of Candlemas Semester (Semester 2) becoming official members, ex officio, of the Students’ Association Board.

OK here's an example campaign poster. For Senator Freddy there's not much to change except name, general style is a semi-professional looking presentation but thinly veiled megolamania and evil empire ambitions trying to persuade everyone its acceptable policies.
