UK Student Poker Website

Postby christian_harris on Thu Aug 05, 2004 7:09 am

I am setting up a UK Student Poker Website, and would really appreciate some feeback if you have any ideas on what features I should put on there.

I have lots of ideas already, in fact the site is almost ready, but I'd like to hear from an open forum before I launch!

Thanks guys,
Christian

Articles

Another thing - would anyone like to write a poker-themed article that I can post on the site for its launch?

As many people as possible would be good!

You can write on anything you like mate.

Perhaps you could write about your tournament strategy & experiences over the last month?!

Really anything you like!!

my article would be:

"Chris Harvey Super System"

'How to play Internet Poker and Win....sod all!'

hmmm....despite my self mokery, checking my stats, in the last 34 hours of play im up 420 dollars, which is pretty poor but im still learning not to call through to the river just to make sure he did actully have a better hand.

Good idea...

You could actually write an article about the pitfalls and common mistakes of on-line players. It would make an interesting read, and might help you to eradicate the problems yourself!!!

id like to think i had some good advice for internet players, not so much to advise people on betting tactics, but more on types of opponents and the mental side of it,

ps. did you watch the WPT last night?

that hellmuth hand when the hoyt (spelling wrong) caught the two running 7s, 1 in 314 chance; 9J vs 7J, 9xx,7,7

thats even worse than some of my epic bad beats!

example of one of my hands today:

playing 5-10 (bit over my bankroll by about 10 times),

i have JA vs 9 10

flop 54J

we both check

turn: 7
he bets $10, i raise to $20, he reraises to $30, i call

river 8

he catches his gunshot...how annoying!

story

Postby flanks on Fri Aug 06, 2004 2:52 pm

I once committed a worse beat on someone. One guy went all in preflop, guy in small blind called, and me in big blind also called. I had K8.

Flop came KJ6, guy on small blind went all in, I called. Guy who was all in preflop had AQ, guy in sb had KJ. I caught runner runner 8 8 to take them both out. The helmuth beat has nothing on that :P

(note. I would never have called but for the fact that I had so many chips. I put the guy on KQ or AK, and was simply looking to take him out)

And a darn good piece it is too :P Full of fictional characters that may just possibly almost absolutely will remind you of a certain group of poker players in St Andrews :P

Jon's article

Postby christian_harris on Wed Aug 11, 2004 8:21 am

And very funny it is too!

Although I have to say that a certain small-faced individual with a penchant for playing suited connectors does not have a large enough part...

Yes I know, but you mention someone in there who is a small-faced individual, and I deduced from the fact that he seems to possess an amazing mind for the game that he must therefore like to play suited connectors...
