i would like the book to give an honest answer to whether the cashout curse exists. i am a firm believer that it does. looking at my transaction history in pokerroom.com everytime i make a big cashout, it is followed by a similarly large deposit.

What you're supposed to do is start with a set amount, say $100.

Once you've doubled up you then withdraw half of your profit, and then start again.

So, once you're up to $200 you withdraw $50.

Then with the $150, once you get to $300 you withdraw $75 and so on and so on

My view is you should cash out at the end of the day to the amount you started with.

People go bust, that is a basic truth of poker, everyone goes bust at some stage. If you cash out then you reduce the amount of depth to your balance, and so you increase the chance of going bust It is a basic truth of poker!

That's actually what I always do, but the thorists that I've read seem to reccommend the theory I posted above.

over 22000! wow, think ill try and avoid bluffing you on the society tourneys....

i sometimes dont know how i can win a lot when:
(rant about crap cards number 89)
i win about 250 over last few days, mainly at 1-2 and 1-2NL, go for a bit of 2-4NL, guy on this table very aggressive, hello to the trapping....
1 on 1 at one point, i raise to 4 with KK, knowing he will reraise, he does to 12, i go all in to 49, he calls with A10 suited and shocker, catches the A

then, in a three way hand to begin with, which goes down to me vs him again, i have ace high flush on the turn all in, $131 pot, then he hits his 4th 10 on the river....holy cow!

so after 3 days hard work, im undone by some jester player hitting those hands...arrghhh...one day i will crack the game...one day....

(plus i lost another 50 with crappy cards in another game)...

anyways, hope your all doing well with those cards, and i worry a bit when last night i watched the same WPT2 event again...that Vinny Vin vs joker Antonio Estefaibrai (both spelling wrong)

after some thinking i have come up with this proposal for my strategy game playing and i would much appreciate advice/thoughts:

1) i will stick to 2-4 limit, never play NL (except tourneys)

2) during the course of playing, if i reached say $100 up, i will stop and not play for the rest of the day

3)i will always search for the crap players and not play in games where i know i can win money if i get the cards, rather than games where players are crap and throwing money at me

what do you think?

i am quite encouraged by this proposal, although i do prefer playing NL, as i do think i am a better player than the average player.

I don't think it's a great idea to stop if you get to $100 up - after all, there must be a reason that you get to $100 up! If that reason is that you are a miles better player than the rest of the table, why stop at $100 when you could potentially win $500... $1000... If, on the other hand, you hit a runner runner 4 of a kind to win a pot that you were all in and miles behind, then you might consider taking the $100 and running away as fast as you can!
