Real Nausicaa-style glider in development

there is a project afoot in Japan to build a working powered glider quite similar to Moewe, Nausicaa's glider. Amazingly enough, they apparently already have a working half-size model and they're looking for test pilots for the full version, though a Nausicaa-like body weight will be required.

Thanks for the link. It's interesting but if we've already got hang-gliders which work quite well why build this thing, apart from the anime fanboy coolness?
