This situation just came up, and I don't know what to do. And I thought I'd add some intrigue (or something) to the BBS. ^_^
Okay, as some of you know, I'm on staff at Otakon. I'm second-in-command of the Press/Publicity department (there are 4 of us total). My boss, the Dept Head, wanted to have a little Departmental meeting to set in motion/outline our goals/ideas for Otakon 2004 at the November staff meeting on the 22nd. The meeting date had been provisional, but it was just confirmed today. Unfortunately, I wasn’t paying attention.
Last week, I pre-registered (paid in full) for the Anime USA, which occurs from 21st – 23rd November. One of my good friends is almost certain to come to Anime USA, and that would be so excellent if she went – she’s not otaku, but likes anime, and it would be her first con. Also I know others from Otakon staff that are going, and I know some staff at Anime USA. So it will probably be a good fun social weekend – opportunity to see a few familiar faces, meet new ones, socialise, and see anime and other events. It is very close to my home.
But then, there are my responsibilities at Otakon.. I noted that my other two colleagues in the Press/Publicity Department are on the pre-registration list of Anime USA, which would probably make my presence at the Otakon staff meeting more pressing (or less pressing, depending on how you see it).The meeting is also a time to socialise and catch up with my staff friends. The location is pretty far from my home.
If I had a lower sense of responsibility, I wouldn't have a hard time to decide. So what do I do? Have a weekend of fun, or go to a one-day staff meeting? Fun or responsibility? *_*;; Tasukete onegaishimasu!
Sorry for clogging up the boards, but I really don’t know what to do!
