Events in 2008!

The Monster Pub Crawl has been nominally planned for Saturday 8th of March!

That's the same day as the Scotland/England 6 Nations Rugby game, so there should be some good atmosphere and friendly rivalry. The game is on in the afternoon so theres no danger of the late pubs being filled up with screaming supporters. Well, mainly.

I believe that there will be 26 drinking venues. We are going to investigate the possibility of including the DRA bar in the morning, prior to the Stables, as a breakfast (bacon rolls) and first drink location. Its a little bit of a walk, but really not a long way in non-St Andrews miles.

Also being planned is a "reward" of some kind, for those truly hardened souls who manage to complete the full crawl. A keepsake of achievement you could say.

---------------------------------

The Glenrothes beer festival is on at the start of May! It's the 10th Fife Beer Festival and again, its at the Rothes Halls.

There will be some 45 real ales and 10 traditional ciders. The event is sponsored by Inveralmond Brewery and there will be live music and all-day food.

The ticket price includes your festival pint glass and a guide/programme.

It's on from Thursday 1st till Saturday 3rd May. The committee has not yet picked a date for our own trip.

The entry fee for the event is £5.00 with a £1.00 discount for CAMRA members (which is us).

I believe that the bus will be free, but there will be limited places. We aren't taking numbers yet though.

The exams begin on the 19th of May. So Revision week starts on the weekend of the 10th. Which gives more headroom around the event than we had last year.

An email should be going out soon about all this, and info on our upcoming pub afternoons/ale nights.

Just an update for those who may not frequent the facebook often or who aren't signed up to the event there, I shall duplicate the information there here.

For those of you who may not know where The Stables is (it does after all, lie out in the badlands) there will be a SAURAS guide to meet people outside the union until about 10:30 on the morning, you will then be lead to where it all begins.

For those society members who manage to complete the crawl in its entirety, there will be a reward. A keepsake of achievement you could say. Fret not those of you who wish to attend and are not signed up, we can soon enough sign you up on the day!
